Pressure
The impact of frontline work
Blue light workers are regularly exposed to traumatic incidents, grief, violence and life-threatening situations, alongside long shifts and constant responsibility. Over time, this can place significant strain on both mental and physical wellbeing.
The effects are not always immediate. They can build gradually and show up as anxiety, burnout, disturbed sleep, emotional numbness, low mood, panic, compassion fatigue or a persistent difficulty switching off once work is over.
