Why choose outdoor therapy?

Traditional therapy rooms can feel confining or intimidating for some people, which may make it harder to talk openly about thoughts and feelings.

Walk and talk therapy offers a different kind of therapeutic space. Being outdoors can help some clients feel more at ease, relaxed and able to engage more naturally.

The combination of movement, fresh air and open surroundings can create a calmer atmosphere that supports reflection, openness and emotional ease throughout the session.

Where sessions are held

Walk and talk therapy sessions are available in two Lincolnshire locations, along Woodhall Spa’s woodland trails or within the beautiful gardens and parkland of Doddington Hall near Lincoln.

During your initial discussion, we will talk through what feels most suitable and agree a location that supports your comfort, privacy and therapeutic needs.

Walk & talk therapy

Outdoor counselling can support openness, calm and emotional movement in a setting that feels less formal and more natural.

Benefits

How outdoor therapy can help

Being outdoors and moving gently can reduce tension, lower stress and create a calmer starting point for therapy.

Walking side by side can feel less formal, helping some people open up and talk more freely.

Movement and nature can also improve mood, support mental clarity and strengthen the connection between mind and body.

Flexibility

A pace that suits you

Sessions begin with an initial phone or online conversation to explore your needs and expectations.

You will then agree a time, meeting place and route that feels comfortable for your one hour session.

You do not need to walk throughout. You may choose to sit outdoors at times, and well behaved pets are welcome with prior notice.

Practical information

Before your session

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear to stay comfortable throughout your session.

Let us know in advance if you have any mobility issues or additional requirements.

If there is any doubt about the weather, your therapist will contact you to rearrange the appointment.
